How do EcoToilets work and what are the advantages?

Self-Sufficient - No connections to electricity, sewage, or water needed.

The self-cleaning "dry- flush" mechanism

is operated electronically at the push of a button and the conveyor belt cleans itself automatically. The urine is stored in 1,000l IBC tanks and is suctioned for collection. The seperation of the urine from the feces and the integrated ventilation system ensure odorlessness.

Conveyor belt system

We use a separation conveyor belt (instead of water) in the toilet, which transports the feces from the toilet bowl into the storage and a collection container. The liquids and solids are separated by gravity. This allows the two streams of waste to be better stored and later processed differently.

The toilet seat

can either be an ergonomic hard plastic seat or a stainless steel seat.

Supply of the system through

sun and rain

Rain water harvesting

If a washbasin is desired, it is supplied by collecting rainwater in a 300l tank. The water is filtered several times and disinfected with a UV lamp. Additionally, the water is used for cleaning during maintenance. The tanks can be easily refilled during droughts.

Solar powered

To power the various electronic devices in our toilet, we use a solar system of 200-450w on the roof. This charges the 200ah solar batteries to ensure consistent use even in the winter months. The toilet includes the electronic conveyor belt, pumps for water and wastewater, LED light strips, electronic door locking, active ventilation, and, if necessary, an emergency call system.

Natural lighting

A light window in the interior provides enough light during the day without consuming electricity. LED light strips provide additional light.

Flexible installation options

High Flexibility

This can be necessary in areas prone to flooding or for locations where usage patterns change over time. Municipalities can also test a location first and, if necessary, reinstall the system at another location.

Self-sufficient toilet systems & movable

The toilet system is also self-sufficient from the respective location and can be easily moved. We offer toilet systems with a steel frame, allowing the system to be moved with a crane or a wheel loader.

Barrier-free access without ramps

For easy handling and barrier-free access, we always recommend a gravel bed lowered by 20-30cm, eliminating the need for an additional steel ramp.

MODULAR - Customizing

the EcoToilets to your needs

Barrier-free or Non-Barrier-free?

Our standard model is the barrier-free EcoToilet "Self-Sufficient+Modular," which we have designed to meet as many requirements of the DIN standard 18040-2 as possible.

The movement dimensions and height of the fixtures have been adapted for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Access is either at ground level through a lowered foundation (see above) or barrier-free via a steel ramp.

For people with visual impairments, we have aimed for a highly contrasting environment in the design. Tactile signs with Braille can optionally be installed. In the self-sufficient variant, we can install a local emergency call system and a mechanical door opener with a locking function. When connected to the power grid, we can install an emergency call system connected to the rescue center and an electronic door opener.

Besides the barrier-free variant, we also offer our "Single Cabins," which are suitable as a supplement or in places where a barrier-free variant is already installed. These are cheaper to purchase.

Combination of multiple cabins and urinal cabins

Depending on the usage at the respective location, it may make sense to provide additional cabins.

According to our experience, a toilet can be used by about 200-250 people per day. Urinal cabins are particularly well suited for this purpose.

In addition to standing/male urinals, we also offer squatting/female urinals. Women, in particular, find it more challenging to find sufficient toilets in public spaces, so female urinals are a cost-effective and quick-to-use option.

Together with Missoir from Berlin, we have already installed 16 public female urinals. All urinals are dry urinals made of stainless steel. Additionally, multiple single cabins can be easily connected.

Various design and customization options

Our goal is to find a suitable individual solution for each location, rather than a "one-size-fits-all" product.

For the exterior design, different colors for the base plates and variations of the trim can be chosen. At some locations, different exterior materials made from recycled plastic, Corten steel, or wood panels may be appropriate. We have also implemented artistic designs through graffiti in collaboration with clients and local artists.

In terms of equipment, there is the option to add various features to the basic model. For example, a changing table, urinals, hand washbasins, electronic door locking, emergency call system, tactile signs, green roofs, etc.

The LIGHT variant - The affordable option for nature-oriented locations.

Especially for locations that rarely experience vandalism, we can also offer a more affordable variant: The "Self-Sufficient + Modular LIGHT" functions similarly to the main model but is entirely made of wood and assembled on-site.

The outer shell is made of 3-layer spruce panels, making it somewhat more susceptible to graffiti. The system is barrier-free but not barrier-free according to DIN standards; among other things, due to the washbasin.

We have installed this type of toilet (formerly Basic_Big) at several cemeteries, nature reserves, and playgrounds.
